Despite the fact that the language was originally an oral one, efforts are being made to preserve and revitalize it. A mark of acute accent is used in case of a different accent point in the word. In a language like Comanche, which is based on the first syllable of every word, emphasis is placed on this syllable. During WWII, the Comanche Code Talkers created a unbreakable code using their language.

The Uto-Aztecan language family includes 30 different languages, with Comanche being one of them. Prey, the first movie in the Comanche language, was filmed in the native language of the Comanche Nation. However, the language is still used in Comanche ceremonies and is being revived by a new generation of speakers.

It is estimated that there are only about 200 Comanche speakers today, most of whom are elderly. Comanche is a Uto-Aztecan language, related to other indigenous languages such as Hopi and Shoshone. However, they quickly began to learn English and by the 19th century, Comanche was one of the most commonly used languages in the American West.

When the Comanche people first came into contact with English speakers in the 18th century, they did not have a common language.
